Ryan Bartel Foundation was selected for a Kindness in Community Fund grant from the Born This Way Foundation. The nonprofit, which develops and operates programs that promote youth mental wellness and prevent suicide, will receive $100,000 over two years.

Two Local nonprofits in Loudoun County, the Ryan Bartel Foundation and the Live4Lane Foundation, are actively working to prevent teen suicide. Founded by parents who lost their own children, these organizations offer programs to provide teens with resources, coping skills, and a sense of community to combat loneliness and stress.

Helping Loudoun youth starts with offering them a feeling of safety from which they can be honest and vulnerable about their mental health. September is Suicide Prevention Month and a time to focus on connection, resilience, and hope.

The Ryan Bartel Foundation recognized 35 high school students on May 8 for completing its inaugural year of the Teen Ambassador Program, according to a news release. The Teen Ambassadors collectively dedicated over 500 volunteer hours to peer mentoring, mental health literacy training and leading projects and campaigns on youth mental wellness.

The foundation is accepting applications for the Spring Teen Mental Wellness Facilitator Training program to help expand experiential workshops that build resilience in teens through hands-on, healing activities. The deadline for applying is Feb. 28.
